Tropics Hostel & Bar is a hostel in Phu Nhuan, 3.9 km from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, with air-conditioned dormitory rooms, a garden and a bar on site. The three dormitories have five or twelve bunk beds: two female rooms, one with five beds in 40 m² and one with twelve beds in 60 m², and one male room with twelve beds in 60 m². Air conditioning and a fan keep the rooms cool, and a wardrobe or closet is provided in each. The sizes differ. The women's room with five beds measures 40 m², the smallest of the three, while the women's room with twelve beds and the men's room with twelve beds are both 60 m². Bunk beds are the only sleeping arrangement in the range, so the choice comes down to room size, the number of beds and the gender of the room.

Parking is free and private, on site and without a reservation, and WiFi is free in all areas of the property. The garden, the bar and the snack bar give guests places to sit, drink and eat without leaving the building, and an Asian breakfast is served every day.

Room service, luggage storage and lockers are available, along with dry cleaning and laundry, so you can leave bags in storage while you go out and have clothes washed during a longer stay. A shared kitchen and a public bath are also available, and internet services are offered to guests.

CCTV covers the common areas, a security alarm is fitted, the property is non-smoking throughout, and an allergy-free room is among the facilities. In the bathrooms you will find a toilet, toilet paper, a bidet and a shower.

Several cafés and restaurants, including The Sweet Restaurant & Cafe, are within 50 m, so a coffee or a quick meal is close at hand.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport, in Tan Binh north-west of the centre, is 1.6 km away, and Saigon Railway Station, the main hub for long-distance trains, is 1.7 km away, so both arrival points are a short ride from the hostel. The city centre is 3.9 km away. Free private parking is available on site and no reservation is needed, which is useful if you arrive by car.

For sightseeing, the War Remnants Museum is 2.9 km away, Tao Dan Park 3.3 km and the Zoo and Botanical Garden Ho Chi Minh 3.9 km. The museum traces the Vietnam War, and Tao Dan Park is a central green space for a break between visits. Hoang Van Thu Park, 1.1 km from the hostel, is the nearest place for a walk among trees.
